With the privatisation of the electricity and gas industries, a layer of complexity was added and since 1998 all electricity and gas supplies have been able to negotiate individual contracts, regardless of size.

Tariff structures do still existing within supply contracts but are largely ignored by the newer consultancies and brokerages, who simply don't understand the significance. By picking the best profile or tariff structure for a contract we can make additional savings over and above the actual price agreed. This comes from our years in experience in tariff analysis, which is itself becoming a forgotten science.
