Control Energy Costs was founded in 1980 by Chris Cleanthi, an analyst involved in Tariff Analysis virtually since inception of the industry in the UK during the late 60's.

At that time, there were only a handful of utility consultancies, and these focused mainly on tariff changes and invoice auditing. Following privatisation of the Gas and Electricity markets, the number has mushroomed to more than 500, whose main activity now is contract negotiation. Because all of these companies claim to do the same thing, choice can be confusing.

What differentiates CEC is the attention we are able to give our clients. For many of our competitors, an Analyst will handle 300+ accounts which sharply limits the service that can be offered. Our Analysts handle around 100 accounts each, giving them time to understand individual clients specific requirements, visit sites and carry out surveys and investigations. Whilst this is a labour intensive policy, we recognise that more will be achieved by giving experienced Analysts the time to investigate fully.
